The Suite That Made Everyone Gasp! GEORGINE FW17

Let's take a journey to when it was all about escapism, an era where people strayed away from the complicated, through the expression of love, sexual freeness and ecstasy. At this point creativity and glamour walked hand and hand, escaping government, war, religious and social oppression. Society pursued a silver lining.  From Howard Hughes at The Beverly Hills to Edie Sedgwick at The Chelsea Hotel and Coco Chanel's suite at The Ritz. GEORGINE's fascination of inventing a distinctive dimension based on a classic part of time was highly accentuated in the fall winter collection.

When we traveled backstage to catch a glimpse of the collection. We didn't know what to expect from GEORGINE. One thing that was clear, after viewing a few pieces it was heavy on glamour, extravagance and opulence. From the rich furs, shimmery metallics, velvets and embroidery. The excitement built up as we rushed to our seats. When the first model stepped on the runway she channeled sixties mod with a dose of rock and roll edge. As she strutted, wearing a leather and metallic print trench, mesh top and metallic print skirt. It was brought to my attention each look from the collection was named after renowned hotels. If there was a specific wearable item to exercise the features of a noted hotel, GEORGINE uniquely express this perspective through their garments.

All the models wore black bobbed wigs designed by Moroccan Oil artistic director Kevin Hiughes, who composed a wild bed hair technique. While Romero Jennings with the M.A.C pro team, created compelling Smokey eyes, contoured cheeks, and nude lips. The collection of velvet floral prints, mod styled mini and mock neck dresses, embellished biker and trench leather jackets highly complimented the fall winter collection. One specific look that had the audience at the edge of their seats, was outfit twenty “The Beekman”, gasps of excitement buzzed over the extraordinary detailing on the coat featuring a lush fur collar, and a seductive metallic dress. Capturing the essence of GEORGINE’s concept, “suite number 339” a place filled with glamour, sex, rhythm and casual encounters… Revealing dwellers of the past.
