Who’s Irresistible? Katie Gallagher FW17

One of the most courageous designer's hailing from New York City, Katie Gallagher, continues to excite her audience with her precise attention to detail, exceptional craftsmanship and dark palette. I describe Gallagher as fearless because she continues to risk and elevate her brand’s characteristics. For Gallagher’s fall winter collection, the designer acquired inspiration from men’s military MA-1 bomber jacket. An item that started out as only a military garment then trickled down into 20th century street style. Emphasizing the luminous lining found inside the jacket was an essential element when selecting the color palette. The autumn hues such as black and orange reflect the colors of autumn and death, generally identified with “All Hallow’s Eve”.
The twenty-outfit collection entitled “Hollow”, features Swiss dot paired with opaque wool, silk, lambskin, and calf fur leathers. The models flaunted Gallagher’s stylish silhouettes, including signature twisted seam finishes on turtlenecks sleeves and leggings in subtle and heavy textures such as point d’esprit and tulle. Its clear Gallagher’s resolve for the unusual beauty references a dark narrative, and the designer understands how to reel any concept into existence. Making Gallagher’s 16th collection “Hollow” practical for all women.
