Startled in my search I was enthralled by the magnitude of Philippines based artist Januz Miralles. A young artist who manipulates photos, ravaged with marbled delights of watercolor seemingly liquefied on canvas. Highlighting characters that mostly resemble women lost in their thoughts. My initial reaction questioned the person in the image, wondering, who is this person? And what are the emotions she’s feeling? Is a complicit moment of ecstasy or the serenity of her thoughts? Though most of the faces of the characters are abstractly disfigured in a surreal state, the artist reveals the beauty of femininity and the delicateness of the female form, through his selection of colors, strokes, placement and texture.
